Tack and gardening equipment were taken; 1 x unbranded brown race saddle, 3 x brown unbranded exercise saddles, 2 x Albion Brown event saddles, 1 x brown hunting saddle, 7 x exercise girths, 3 x brown leather race bridles, 4 x brown leather exercise bridles, a set of lister horse clippers, a drill and Stihl petrol chainsaw/strimmer and hedgecutter which have small yellow stickers "F N Pile & Son"). When approached they asked if we knew where they could get hay for a pony with laminitis, which the land owner thought a bit odd, even more odd one of them said he had 7 horses in Pulborough so why didnt he know? they asked questions like how often did we ride them and they were most interested in our little Piebald cob, saying he would be a good driving pony , they went shortly after but kept looking at Piebald. The land owner took their reg number and told the police and asked the neighbours if they would look out for them the reg is like X466VW!.Shoreham police station was contacted and the reporter was given a crime number of 911/12th September 2011 There have been several similar instances in the area surrounding Brighton recently. So please be aware and keep a look out. Report submitted on 14 September 2011 <b>Town : </b>Hove <b>County : </b>West Sussex Suspicious activity- At approximately 00:30am today Sunday 04/09/2011 two men were disturbed trying to steal an ifor williams 510 trailer from a field in Brighton Road, Hurstpier Point. They were caught in the act by the owner and a friend. They had headcollars hooked over their shoulders and when disturbed they ran away over one of the ajoining fields where a third man driving what seemed like a black/silver warrior vehicle, was waiting for them. (this could have been burgundy/silver, the owner is unsure as it was dark and all happened very quickly) The get away vehicle was running its engine waiting for these men, and was located in a good position for a quick get away or to reverse and hook trailer up to. The owner is convinced if they had managed to get through the security lock on the trailer ( which they had attempted to do,) they would have used the head collars they had with them to load some of the horses. The owner is keen that i pass this message out so everyone can be made aware and keep an extra close eye on their horses/trailers in the area, the police attended and the crime ref is 67-4/9/11. these men meant business and definitely knew what they were doing!
